BRINGING HOPE CLOSER TO EXPECTANT MOTHERS.

In the heart of Malawi’s in Nkhotakota remote villages, where health facilities are few and far between, pregnant women face daunting challenges. Many walk for hours — sometimes over rugged terrain — just to access the essential antenatal care they need to ensure a safe pregnancy and delivery.

But for these resilient women, Njira Impact is changing the story.Through its Mobile Clinic initiative, Njira Impact is reaching women in isolated communities, bringing free antenatal services, nutritional support, and health education right to their doorstep. No longer do these expectant mothers have to choose between risking their health and walking long distances. With Njira, the care comes to them.

A group of expectant mothers, dressed in vibrant chitenje, proudly hold newly distributed mosquito nets — part of Njira’s maternal health package with partners aimed at preventing malaria, one of the leading causes of maternal and infant mortality in Malawi.

“Before the mobile clinic came, I had to walk almost three hours to reach the health center,” shared one of the women. “Now, Njira visits us in our village. I feel safer, supported, and hopeful for my baby’s future.”

Each mobile clinic day becomes a community gathering — where women not only receive check-ups and medication but also connect with other mothers, learn about nutrition, and build a support network that empowers them during pregnancy.

Njira Impact’s work is a testament to what’s possible when healthcare meets people where they are. In a country where maternal mortality remains high, initiatives like this are a lifeline — ensuring that every woman, no matter where she lives, has the right to a safe pregnancy and healthy baby.
