MIRACLE’S JOURNEY TO HEALTH AND EMPOWERMENT

Miracle is among over 3753 sex workers  reached through Njira Impact’s SRHR and ART adherence programming in hard-to-reach areas across T/A Tamani. The majority of participants were living with high levels of stigma, low access to health services, and were at risk of defaulting on treatment.

Before joining the program, Miracle struggled with non-adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). She often missed clinic appointments and doses due to fear of discrimination, lack of information, and inconsistent support.

Njira Impact, through its peer-led SRHR initiative, provided safe group sessions with trained peer educators from the sex worker community, consistent ART adherence counselling, Information on health rights, self-care, and access to friendly clinics

These sessions created a non-judgmental space where individuals like Miracle could learn, share, and rebuild trust in healthcare.

Today, Miracle is confidently adhering to her ART regimen and has not missed a single appointment since joining the program. Her health has improved, and she now takes pride in caring for her two children. She feels empowered to make informed decisions and continues attending peer sessions for support and learning.

“I used to miss my appointments and forget my medication,” Miracle shares. “But now, I take my drugs seriously and have never missed a single appointment.”

With community-driven care and compassion, Miracle’s life has transformed from fear to hope.
