Njira Impact Brings SRHR Mobile Clinic Services to Mbandira Community College.

Nkhotakota, Malawi — Njira Impact has brought Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services closer to students at Mbandira Community College through a mobile clinic outreach aimed at improving access to essential health services among young people.
The outreach provided a range of services including HIV testing and counseling, family planning services, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment, sexual and reproductive health education, and general health consultations. The mobile clinic created an accessible and youth-friendly environment where students could seek health services and receive accurate information about protecting their health.

Over 140 students at the college come from different districts across the country and live as self-boarders, which often makes it difficult for them to easily access health services. By bringing the services directly to the campus, Njira Impact helped remove barriers that often prevent young people from seeking care.
Speaking during the outreach, Mr. Kapanje, one of the instructors at Mbandira Community College, commended the initiative and emphasized its importance for students.
“This initiative will greatly help the students because they come from different backgrounds and are still new to each other. Providing these services at the college will help students access health information and services easily. Since most of them are self-boarders, it will also help in controlling the spread of diseases and promoting responsible health choices among them,” he said.
The mobile clinic also provided an opportunity for students to engage with health professionals and peer educators through open discussions on HIV prevention, safe relationships, and the importance of regular health check-ups.
Njira Impact continues to implement community-based health interventions aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health services for adolescents and young people in Nkhotakota and surrounding communities.
Through initiatives such as mobile clinics, the organization is ensuring that young people in schools have access to lifesaving health information and services wherever they are, contributing to healthier and more informed communities.
