In partnership with Spark MicroGrants and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), NJIRA Impact is set to implement this ambitious initiative over the next 29 months, targeting 139 villages across Zomba District. Each village will receive a microgrant of MWK 20.4 million to design and implement a development project of their own choosing.

The total investment for the program is projected at nearly MWK 4 billion, with implementation scheduled to begin in August 2025.

This landmark program aims to strengthen community livelihoods, resilience, and social cohesion through inclusive and participatory development. By placing decision-making power in the hands of communities, FCAP will empower local people to identify and address their most pressing needs—whether it’s access to clean water, agriculture development, education, or small-scale infrastructure.

This program is not just about grants—it’s about building the long-term capacity of communities to lead their own development and thrive.”The approval by Zomba DEC is a testament to the trust and collaboration between government structures, development partners, and grassroots organizations. With Spark MicroGrants’ proven FCAP methodology and IPA’s research and evaluation expertise, NJIRA Impact is poised to deliver transformative results for rural communities in Malawi.
