ON 19 November 2025 COMMUNITIES REFLECT ON PROGRESS AS DREAMS PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION.

Njira Impact, in collaboration with community structures and district partners, held a series of review meetings in Thyolo to reflect on progress, lessons learned, and sustainability plans as the DREAMS Project enters its final phase. The sessions brought together traditional leaders, project volunteers, farmers, district officials, and households who have directly benefited from the interventions.
Over the past implementation period, the DREAMS Project has delivered transformational impact across targeted communities:
- 600+ households empowered through watershed rehabilitation
- 3,150 households supported with immediate food assistance through cash transfers
- 465 children, pregnant and lactating women reached with improved nutrition support
- 1,600+ farmers adopting climate-smart agriculture practices.

The review highlighted how communities are continuing key activities beyond project timelines, including land rehabilitation, multiplication of orange-fleshed sweet potato (OFSP) vines, and promoting improved household nutrition.
Speaking during the meeting, Mrs. Namoyo, one of the active beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support received.
“This project has truly changed how we farm. We now understand climate-smart practices, and our yields have improved. We feel more confident that our families will have food even when the weather changes,” she shared.
The Thyolo Agricultural Extension Worker commended the community’s commitment and emphasized their ongoing support:
“Our farmers have shown great dedication. We will continue working with them to rehabilitate degraded land and strengthen sustainable farming practices. This momentum must continue even after the project ends.”
The atmosphere throughout the review meetings was one of pride and renewed determination. The collaboration between community members, district teams, and Njira Impact has laid a foundation for resilience that will continue shaping livelihoods long after the DREAMS Project closes.
As Njira Impact continues to champion community-driven development, the progress witnessed in Thyolo stands as a strong reminder that sustainable impact is possible when communities lead the way.
